Cotton Boll Crafts
Taylor's Blackland prairie provides fields and fields of cotton every year. Mother nature determines if the bolls will be big or small. I gather my cotton by walking out in the fields and picking it, boll by boll. It's usually ready when the Texas summer is at its peak (hotter than hot) and I try to get my cotton picked before any rain falls on the open bolls which can make the cotton dislodge from the Calyx (the hard inner pods). After that, it's all about using your imagination or other inspiration to create something out of this long harvested crop.
